Hon. Max Bradford
Minister of Enterprise and Commerce
Parliament Buildings
Wellington
Dear Mr Bradford
In a letter from you to Hon.Richard Prebble you may
recollect stating that, I quote“it is
likely Mr Landaus made his discoveries illegally.”
With all due respect, I now think it is time you
apoligised to Hon.Mr Prebble and myself for this most ill informed and
defamatory statement.
Given the fact that you have probably used your
parliamentary privilege in writing this statement, I also ask that you do so
during a parliamentary sitting as I have no doubt that this information was
passed on to many of your colleagues.
If you had bothered to check my credentials and the
history of my mining and related licenses, you would have noticed I previously
held a Prospectors Right under the Mining Act 1971 when I originally made most
of my discoveries. This allowed me to prospect Crown owned minerals on Crown
land open for mining.
You must also be aware that in the history of mining
the majority of mining privilege applications are not preceded by prospecting
or exploration applications, but directly for mining licenses. This tells you a
story in itself. Furthermore I could give you many instances where persons have
made major discoveries while exercising their right to access Crown Land for
whatever purpose. A typical related example is the discovery of the present
historical greenstone reserve in a tributary of the Dart River. Which I could
have well discovered before Mr Trevor?
I respectfully await your reply. Cc’s:
Richard Prebble MP
Damien O’Connor MP
Yours sincerely
Kenn J Landaus
